Central database of software tools

In IP152 a list is given of calculation programs for thermal bridges.  In the framework of the ASIEPI project all the developers of these programs have been invited to update, or make a first submission, of the features of their software to the database of the "Building Energy Software Tools Directory" of the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE) and of the European Buildings Platform.  The database provides a fairly uniform description of the main characteristics of each of the software tools, including a heading on validation.  Besides programs for thermal bridge calculations, the database also contains many other energy calculation tools (in total nearly 400 at the time of writing, in the spring of 2010).  At present, the Buildings Platform website is no longer on-line, but all the information is still accessible through the DoE website: http://apps1.eere.energy.gov/buildings/tools_directory

Member States approaches in regulations regarding thermal bridges

The national approaches to consider thermal bridges in building regulations of 13 countries with status end of 2007 are presented in the Information Paper IP064  ‘Thermal bridges in the EBPD context: overview on MS approaches in regulations’. The countries included are:
- Denmark
- Norway
- Finland
- Belgium
- The Netherlands
- Germany
- France
- Poland
- Czech Republic
- Greece
- Spain
- Portugal
- Italy

At the time IP064 was published, the method in Belgium was only an outline of principles and still had a provisional character. Since then, national projects have evaluated and modified the method, and practical stipulations have been elaborated. At the closure of the ASIEPI project in the spring of 2010, a final draft of an adapted method for taking into account thermal bridges was ready.  The following document  gives a nutshell overview in English of this new method.

Conference paper

At the AIVC Conference 2009 in Berlin, the paper ‘Thermal bridges in the EPBD context’, presented issues in connection with thermal bridges.
